08:00 < Rumy_RIPENCC> Hello. Welcome to the second session of the IPv6 WG. My name is Rumy Kanis from the RIPE NCC. I will be monitoring chat during this session. If you have a question or comment, I can read it out for you. Please make your questions as clear as possible. I will read out any questions when the speaker asks for questions at the end of his/her presentation. Please note that all chat transcripts will be archived and made available to the public on https:

08:39 < rhe-786> Any problem in routing can be solved by adding a tunnel. (Not for the mic Rumy, I'm big and ugly enough to do it myself.)
08:40 < rhe-786> Ah, good, Mikael has mentioned shim6.
08:40 -!- ripe329 [~c15c0d62 [at] rosie-arch [dot] ipv6 [dot] ripe [dot] net] has joined #ipv6
08:41 < ripe329> Mikael's right, multiprefix should work here. And if both uplinks have identical reachability it should work with hosts today.
08:42 < ripe329> Later, hosts will have more information to make a selection of source address, and hence destination ISP.
08:42 < ripe329> You don't need shim6 though.
08:42 < rhe-786> Just as well, because it isn't implemented anywhere. :)
08:42 < Rumy_RIPENCC> Benedikts presentation has ended
08:43 < Rumy_RIPENCC> Jen Linkova from Google has begun her presentation "IPv6 Source Address, What Could Possibly Go Wrong?"
08:43 < ripe329> Yes, that's kind of a problem with shim6.

08:45 < Rumy_RIPENCC> i don't mind you discussing here, but please let me know if you want me to relay something at the mike :) thx
08:45 < Rumy_RIPENCC> (i still have a voice!)
08:46 < brian> Rumy_RIPENCC: That curse seems to have pasted to Sander this week...
08:46 < Rumy_RIPENCC> so i heard :)

09:01 < Rumy_RIPENCC> Jens presentation has ended

09:09 < ripe329> Are these slides available for download?
09:09 < ripe329> I don't see a link on the agenda page.
09:09 < MarcoH> Yes they are
09:10 < razvan_RIPENCC> ripe329: It appears as Anastasios Chatzithomaoglou
09:10 < MarcoH> https://ripe67.ripe.net/presentations/287-Tassos_Chatzithomaoglou_-_Moving_On..._IPv6,_DS-Lite_&_PCP_-_17.10.2013.pdf
09:10 < ripe329> Aha, I see it now.
09:10 < MarcoH> He used his full name
09:10 < MarcoH> but usually signs off his email as Tassos
09:12 < ripe329> This economic analysis is good, but I think it applies to dual-stack as well as dual-stack-lite
09:12 < OleTroan> I didn't understand the point of why DS-lite was cheaper than NAT444?
09:12 < OleTroan> Both having centralized CGN with similarish amount of state
09:13 -!- ripe334 [~7d1 [at] rosie-arch [dot] ipv6 [dot] ripe [dot] net] has joined #ipv6
09:14 < Rumy_RIPENCC> do you want me to relay this?

09:15 < Rumy_RIPENCC> ripe 329? and Ole? do you want me to pass your comments/questions on the mike?
09:15 < ripe329> yes
09:15 < Rumy_RIPENCC> could you let me know your name and organization?
09:16 < ripe329> Mark Townsley, Cisco. Ole and I have the same point, I think you could relay them together.
09:16 < Rumy_RIPENCC> ok
09:16 < Rumy_RIPENCC> hi Mark
09:16 < ripe329> hi :-)
09:17 < OleTroan> Could you also ask him if he calculated the cost of moving the NAT state to the CPE? As in running A+P?
09:17 < Rumy_RIPENCC> will do
09:17 < OleTroan> Ole @ Cisco but with my IETF softwire hat on.
09:18 < Rumy_RIPENCC> thx
09:18 -!- StucchiMax [~7d1 [at] rosie-arch [dot] ipv6 [dot] ripe [dot] net] has quit [Quit: CGI:IRC]
09:20 < ripe329> The solution to get MAP on your CPE is not to "wait", it is to ask your CPE vendor you want MAP.
09:21 < ripe329> s/ask/tell
09:21 < ripe329> please relay
09:21 < Rumy_RIPENCC> ok i was just told by marco that i can only have one question
09:21 < Rumy_RIPENCC> time is running out
09:21 < MarcoH> FYI, we are fast running out of time
09:21 < Rumy_RIPENCC> could you summarize ;)
09:22 < Rumy_RIPENCC> which question/comment would you want me to ask the most?
09:22 < MarcoH> indeed, sorry about that folks
09:22 < Rumy_RIPENCC> i can speak fast and combine two in one :P
09:22 < MarcoH> hehehe
09:22 < ripe329> Give it to Ole, Cost.
09:22 < MarcoH> and please feel free to take other piece of discussion to our mailing list
09:22 < Rumy_RIPENCC> this one, just to be sure:
09:22 < Rumy_RIPENCC> I didn't understand the point of why DS-lite was cheaper than NAT444, both having centralized CGN with similar amount of state
09:22 < Rumy_RIPENCC> right?
09:23 < ripe329> yes
09:23 < OleTroan> could you combine that with the cost of A+P?
09:23 < Rumy_RIPENCC> yes
09:23 < OleTroan> as in moving state to CPE from CGN
09:24 < ripe329> But that's the same with Dual Stack.
09:25 < Rumy_RIPENCC> sneaked that last one in :P
09:25 < ripe329> Thanks, Rumy
09:25 < OleTroan> Thanks Rumy!
09:25 < Rumy_RIPENCC> you can follow up on the mailing list :)
09:25 < Rumy_RIPENCC> Tanos presentation has now ended

12:26 < CVB-RIPE> Hello,
12:26 < CVB-RIPE>
12:26 < CVB-RIPE> Our infrastructure provider does not currently offer IPv6 addresses on publicly available interfaces. Unfortunately I don't have a timeline from them about offering this capability. Can you please explain what the critical issue is so I can better understand the impact?
12:26 < CVB-RIPE>
12:26 < CVB-RIPE> Thanks
